1024 faces of IT

A special event – 1024 faces of IT – held in Baja, Hungary, by the invitation of Infobex Ltd. where Hungary’ top enterprises’ IT Directors have met in a casual conversation following several lectures on today’s interesting IT topics.

First speaker, Zsolt Szabo, the head of IT operations at Infobex Ltd. gave his presentation on the history of IT and its evolution from the early days up to today. The next lecturer was Gabor Arad who introduced Balabit IT Security and SCB - Shell Control Box - an activity monitoring appliance that controls privileged access to remote servers and networking devices and records activities in movie-like audit trails that can be searched and replayed. Balabit IT was followed by Tibor Ban, who introduced Lieberman and the company’s password security management solutions. Mark Dolowschiak from B – Trust Ltd. gave his lecture on IT audit, the need of it, the objectives and the course of auditing. Last by not least, Istvan Kovacs commercial director gave a brief insight of Eastron Ltd.

The “CIO of the Year” award is a prestigious recognition among Hungarian IT Directors. Since 2002, a jury of experts awarded the recognition in a two round selection process, to the fittest of them all. First, individual recommendation by a group of CIOs nominated and asked to write a short essay. The submission of work from which the jury will get to know the candidates, his or hers objectives, results, methods and able to talk to candidates. After everything was said and done, the jury makes the final decision.

In recent years, two professionals affiliated with Baja have received the Chief Information Officer of the Year title. The winner in 2012 was Peter Abraham, the IT and purchasing director of the Budapest based Bonafarm Group who has family ties to the towns along the Danube. In 2011 the prestigious award was received by Laszlo Haasz the managing director of the Baja based Infobex Ltd.

At the end, the two IP professionals ended the forum with a round table discussion on information technology, experiences and future developments and answered questions from Hungary’s top IT Directors.
